Easy, small and efficient
Simply super easy to migrate from our bare PC (big and noisy) to this appliance (super tiny and absolutely quiet): export our config, move the cables, import our config...done! It just works and done a super good job on our double WAN setup.

Small, quiet and very easy to install
I don't need to speak about pfsense. But this hardware complete the solution. Easy, small, no hd. very nice.

Reliable and quietly powerful
I've used pfsense for several years. When recently my "LinITX ALIX 2D3 LX800" firewall was found wanting (not enough memory to handle the volume of concurrent connections) I looked to pfsense for hardware rather than repurpose a desktop/server for the role. The VK-T40E comes in the same chassis as the LinITX and was easy to setup with a backed up configuration. It's delivered exactly what I needed at a reasonable price (and delivered within 3 days to the UK!). Highly recommended.

Excellent Router
I am using this in a home environment, and I do work remote via VPN most days. I needed something more up-to-date than the DD-WRT build I have been running for almost 10 years now. I have been thrilled at the overall performance of the router. My favorite functions are the available integration of existing software packages like Snort. I ordered my pfSense with an SSD because the website said I would need it for Snort, etc - however I didn't realize how easy it would be to install those packages through the GUI. I am well at home inside Unix/Linux, however it's nice to have the integration. There is a learning curve for those who are not network engineers, though most of the advanced features do seem walled off into clear areas where you shouldn't touch if you don't know what you're exactly doing. The 'wizards' that walk you though Traffic Shaping are really nice. I wish there were options for Skype (it wasn't mentioned in the VoIP section - but I imagine it's network traffic is str

Works great!
We purchased one of these for a small business with ~7 people, needing to establish a direct connection to our european sister company. We have Comcast as out ISP in new england, and after a couple of hours configuring and on the phone with Comcast to put the Cisco router into bridge mode, we were happily up and running! No more VPN from office to office!
